Every day at GFC, we draw motivation from our partners’ heroism as they strive to improve children’s lives under especially challenging circumstances. Today, we’re honored to share with you 14 of these extraordinary partners: the finalists for the 2020 Juliette Gimon Courage Awards. From Nigeria to Pakistan to Mexico, they tackle a range of injustices, from child trafficking to youth incarceration. Read on to witness true bravery in the fight for children’s rights. Youth leaders rise against COVID-19 |
Seasoned in leveraging the power of youth, our local partners are sharing inspiring stories of young leaders combatting COVID-19 in marginalized communities. Learn how youth volunteers in Nairobi distributed critical information and supplies throughout a sprawling informal settlement. Then check out a photo essay from the urban streets of Kolkata, where young people led a massive community health campaign. GFC has already sent $117,000 in emergency grants to 40 organizations, but we expect them to need $500,000+ in the coming months alone. Donate to our Emergency Response Fund today to meet the needs of children affected by the coronavirus. Developing new ideas of manhood [special feature] |
Girl-centered programs and services are essential – but aren’t enough – to combat an issue as widespread and engrained as gender-based violence. We also need to teach boys to challenge harmful ideas about what it means to be a man. In this new, in-depth feature, learn how our local partners dismantle patriarchal masculinities and help boys become allies in the struggle for gender equality. |
