Community dream-building
Avani, one of GFC’s 2020 Courage Award winners, is using a new approach to building community support for gender equality. The organization, which works with children and youth at risk of being trafficked, has started engaging local communities in dream-building activities to explore shared hopes for gender equality. Voices from a new girls’ summit
Last month, more than 100 young people from Liberia and Sierra Leone attended the first West Africa Adolescent Girls Summit. Twelve adolescents who participate in GFC partner programs designed and led the event, organizing workshops and activities on human rights advocacy, movement building, and other topics.
