This coming Sunday, communities around the world will celebrate Universal Children’s Day—marking the day when, in 1989, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Convention lays out fundamental rights that most of us take for granted: the right to live, the right to healthcare and education. The right to be protected from discrimination and violence, the right to a name and identity.
At The Global Fund for Children, we believe every child deserves these basic rights. And the millions of children worldwide that GFC has helped are a testament to this belief. Through our work with grassroots partners, children from Uganda to Serbia, Haiti to Bangladesh, have prevailed against war, disaster, and daily threats to their safety and well-being.
This transformational work is only possible because of donors like you, and that’s why I’m asking for you to donate today.
When you donate to GFC, you free children from slavery and give them refuge from war. You help them go to school, get the nutrition and healthcare they need to grow up strong, and build skills for the future. You also strengthen the communities where they live and the grassroots organizations that are dedicated to helping them thrive.
In an ideal world, we wouldn’t need an international treaty for a child’s well-being. All children would grow up free from fear and harm. But today, countless young people are struggling to survive. Like you, I want to do everything I can to help. While GFC works hard every day to help vulnerable children, there are many more children we need to reach, and that is only possible with your support.
