Meet this year’s Courage Award winners
Congratulations to our 2021 Juliette Gimon Courage Award winners! Youth Safety Awareness Initiative in Kenya and Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop in the United States help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated youth reach their full potential. For the first time, the Courage Award Selection Committee has also chosen a third winner, which has worked courageously to prevent violence against children and to promote their health and rights in its home country. Learn more about the winners and the award.
Fighting for migrant rights in North Macedonia
Until recently, migrants traveling through North Macedonia didn’t have legal rights, putting them at greater risk of trafficking and other dangers. GFC partner Legis has successfully advocated for a law that creates short-term legal protections for migrants, and the organization has deployed mobile teams to provide medical aid, food, and psychosocial services. Find out more about how Legis supports migrants – including unaccompanied children – and learn how the organization has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Don’t miss the first issue of GFC’s new Learning Playground, a quarterly publication full of ideas and inspiration related to shifting power in philanthropy. Explore how prioritizing wellbeing and collective care can nurture social change, how philanthropy can join forces with local civil society organizations to strengthen safeguarding, and more. Read the full issue and stay tuned for the next one.
At GFC, we’re in the business of building movements and delivering life-changing programs to children and youth. Consider a gift today for a better world where children are safe, strong, and valued.
