Emergency support for children facing trauma at home
A stay-at-home order can protect children from contracting the coronavirus – but what if home isn’t a safe place to be? In Kyrgyzstan, COVID-19 has forced our partner Children of Tien-Shan to close its children’s shelter and has disrupted its support program for struggling families. Now the organization is doing all it can to help the young people in its community to survive. Ending violence against girls in West Africa
We’re excited to announce the launch of Ending Violence, Empowering Girls, a new initiative supporting local organizations in the rural border areas of Liberia and Sierra Leone, where rates of violence against girls are especially high. Our eight local partners – all of which are led by women or youth – tackle the root causes of violence in a variety of ways, with an emphasis on ending child marriage, sexual abuse, and female genital mutilation/cutting.
