Flor’s Visit with Disaster Survivors - Guatemala
When Guatemala’s Fuego volcano erupted in June, our partner Asociación Generando (ASOGEN) immediately got to work, providing emergency shelter, food, and supplies to survivors. Now, several months after this historic disaster, they continue to respond to community needs through a psychosocial recovery program. GFC program officer Flor Gomez Byers recently visited a workshop where children gathered with ASOGEN staff to share their fears and grief—a critical step on the long road to healing. Read Flor’s reflections in her blog post.
Young Leaders Embolden Global Youth Council
Our inaugural Youth Leadership Council is quickly shaping up, as five outstanding young leaders have signed on to serve as advisors to GFC. In London, we sat down with Mete Coban, 26, to talk about civic responsibility (he’s Hackney’s youngest-ever elected Councillor) and why he’s inspired to join GFC in the fight for youth rights. Check out Mete’s interview, the first in a series of introductions to our new council members.
Global Fund for Children (GFC) UK Trust, created in 2006, is a UK registered charity (UK charity number 1119544). We work to generate vital income, create new fundraising opportunities, and raise awareness of the invaluable work of GFC’s grassroots grantees. Our aim is to extend the reach of GFC in the United Kingdom, Europe, and beyond.
