In post-Soviet countries in Europe and Eurasia, there are few services, facilities, and social activities for children with disabilities. These children experience inequality in their communities, including social stigma and inadequate public policies and laws. Your gift can help GFC's partners run inclusive programs so that children with and without disabilities can participate in sports and educational activities together. Sports are an effective way to build understanding and deepen relationships among children—and with your support, we are creating more inclusive, positive communities from the ground up.

Many rural and indigenous children in Latin America and the Caribbean do not have access to education because the distance to the nearest school is too great or because bilingual education is not provided. Those children who are able to attend school often face language barriers or social discrimination. In some rural communities in Africa, female education is not a priority—girls are removed from school and married as young as age 11 or 12. GFC’s partners are changing the lives of these vulnerable girls. Your gift can help community-based organizations provide education and support to female students, especially at the pivotal age when girls are often forced to abandon their studies. With your support, these groups are also changing community attitudes about girls’ education, giving marginalized girls the resources for a brighter future.

Many of GFC’s partners in the Middle East have expanded their programs in response to conflict in the region. Millions of Syrians have fled their homes and sought refuge in neighboring countries. In Lebanon and Turkey, GFC's partners distribute supplies to vulnerable populations and offer basic education and life skills training. Your support can provide education and healthcare services to vulnerable children, as well as special counseling and family-tracing services for Syrian refugees.

Many children and youth in East and Southeast Asia are invisible to government statistics, programs, and policies. In China, children from nomadic, ethnic minority families are especially vulnerable and face language barriers and severe social discrimination. Without early childhood education, the transition to primary school can be a huge hurdle for nomadic children who have recently settled in the cities and towns.
